Tell us a bit about what you're considering and we'll come back to you within one business day. If it's easier to talk it through, the number is on the right.
We'll be in touch within one business day. If it's urgent, call the office on 847.987.1000.
Our usual patch is the North Shore, Lake County down through Evanston. We have built as far away as the Pacific, so the honest answer depends on the project rather than the mileage. Tell us where you are and we'll give you a straight one.
Full-service commissions are usually a percentage of construction cost. Consulting and partial services are hourly. Either way you'll have the fee structure in writing before you commit to anything.
Fill in the form on this page and we'll set up a short introductory call. We'll ask about the project, you can ask about how we work, and between us we'll work out whether it's a good fit.
Yes. We will put you in touch with clients whose projects were close to yours in size or in kind, and with the builders who ran them. Just ask when we speak, and we will arrange it.
No. The projects here happen to be the ones photographed and written up, and they already run from a 1954 mid-century house to an Arts and Crafts one. We do not work to a house style. What a building ends up looking like comes out of the site, what stands either side of it, and what you actually want, so bring the idea whatever it is and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right office for it.
For a new house, figure 12 to 18 months from the first meeting to permit, with construction adding another 12 to 24 on top. Renovations move a good deal faster. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the first meeting rather than an optimistic one. A fair amount of that first stretch belongs to the village review board rather than to us, which is worth knowing before you set a date for the housewarming.
